Gaia Guardians

Welcome to Gaia Guardians!

Gaia Guardians is a grassroots meeting of the minds and hearts of people who care for Earth and desire to come together to work together to save “Gaia”–a term which has a modern day meaning of the intelligence and inter-connectivity of all life forms on Earth and all the systems (such as the soil, fresh water, and all matters of the climate) which support life on Earth.

Formation

Gaia Guardians was officially formed in Los Angeles by members of Metropolitan Community Church – United Church of Christ in the Valley (MCC-UCCV) in December of 2018, but has been in the works by two of the founding members, Reverend Dr. Pat Langlois and JD Sebastian, who worked together for 12 years at Metropolitan Community Church Los Angeles (aka “Founders MCCLA”), collaborating on Earth Day events, concerts, and teaching series regarding caring for Earth, Gaia, Mother Earth, our Planet, by whatever or name you prefer to refer to Her/It as.

Our First Meeting

On December 10, 2018, Gaia Guardians had their first meeting, with a total of 12 members signing up (including one non-human member, a very large dog named Chopper, and two members not present at the first meeting, but who joined in the evening.

As each person shared from their heart what they hoped they could address, as a group, a video camera captured every moment, and this video was translated, word-for word, in the PDF document below.

Gaia Guardians Meets Twice Monthly

Gaia Guardians meets on the 2nd Monday and 4th Sunday of every month.  The Monday Night meeting is live broadcast (video and audio) over the Internet with live online audience participation encouraged.  The Sunday afternoon meeting either meets in the MCC-UCCV Gardens on the church property in North Hollywood, or participates in an outing, some place in Nature.  There is always checking in and sharing, round table discussion, with a shared leadership which exists and is honored from all members as equals within the group.
