Earth Sabbath Alternate Power
Video Transcript:
Hi. We’re going to try something at this apartment called an “Earth Sabbath: One day a week of none of our smoke” We’re going to unplug from the grid. We’re going to try it anyways as an experiment. Our first time is Saturday. To unplug from the grid means we’re not going to be using anything that’s connected in any way to fossil fuel power. We’re going to give the Earth one day a week of none of our smoke, at least this day. To prepare for this: rechargeable batteries for flashlights and things like that. When we turn off the power source we’ll still have an iPad, an iPhone — it won’t be connected to the Internet– and we can continue to charge it. This is something that’s very inexpensive to put together—a 12 volt car battery, this DC Inverter, then we can turn that on and have household current. It will do things like charge phones, stereo system, a very small TV, probably. You won’t be completely without electricity. Battery power is okay, or anything that comes from a clean source: Wonderful on Earth Sabbath!
